Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to lead water and wastewater consulting projects in the Northeast. You will manage concept through construction, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure regulatory and funding compliance.

You will mentor staff, prepare plans and permit applications, and maintain schedules and budgets while delivering high-quality design for treatment plants, pumps, and conveyance systems. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Considerable consulting engineering experience with increasing responsibility in the water and wastewater industry.
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer.
• Demonstrated project management experience and strong technical skills.
• Strong leadership ability with a passion for managing and mentoring others.
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with New England and New York water/wastewater regulations and funding (preferred).
• Understanding of Revit on multidisciplinary water/wastewater projects (preferred).
• Experience in water and wastewater system design (preferred).
• Self-motivated learner with enthusiasm for professional growth (preferred).
• Additional state licensure to support diverse project needs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manage project execution from initial concept through construction completion.
• Ensure adherence to technical, regulatory, and funding requirements.
• Serve as the primary client contact.
• Guide clients through funding options, permitting, and project execution.
• Supervise multidisciplinary teams and provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight.
• Prepare and oversee construction documents, permit applications, drawings, specifications, and cost reports.
• Maintain high-quality standards.
• Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
• Address project needs and resolve design challenges.
• Manage project budgets and schedules.
• Keep projects on track while meeting client expectations and industry best practices.
• Identify and pursue new project opportunities.
• Contribute to proposals, interviews, and business development efforts.
