Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the Water/Wastewater Division in the Charlotte, NC area. You will work under the Project Manager, interfacing with estimating, operations coordination, and the project superintendent.

You will gain experience in estimating, scheduling, and shop drawing reviews while supporting procurement and subcontract coordination. The role emphasizes field coordination and project documentation.”

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 1–2 years of Project Engineer experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute project tasks assigned by the Project Manager.
• Maintain and update project logs (Submittal, RFI).
• Update project schedules and track progress.
• Identify needs and write RFIs.
• Prepare, review, and process shop drawings.
• Maintain as-built drawings and O&M materials.
• Analyze PO and Subcontract scopes; assist procurement.
• Assist purchasing and expediting of materials.
• Distribute contract documents to sites, vendors, and subs.
• Coordinate with subs and vendors to ensure progress.
• Conduct site visits to ensure conformance with plans.
• Support project startup activities and provide PM with accurate info.
