Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent with a water/wastewater background to lead on Charlotte, NC projects.

You will direct daily field activities, supervise staff, ensure safety and quality standards, and coordinate scheduling for water and wastewater treatment plant and line work projects. The role requires strong communication, proven supervisory experience, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising water or wastewater projects.
• Experience with self-performing work is preferred.
• Cast-in-place concrete, piping, and mechanical equipment experience.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Strong communication and people skills.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Competent Person training: Trenching, Scaffolds, Rigging, Confined Space, Fall Protection.
• OSHA 10-hour, First Aid & CPR, SWPPP Inspector, silica, and risk management training.
• History of completing multi-million-dollar projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all field personnel on water/wastewater construction projects.
• Maintain safe workplace and enforce safety policy.
• Coordinate short-term scheduling, manpower, and equipment.
• Oversee permit and regulatory inspections.
• Manage field documentation, daily reports, and photos.
• Handle material receiving, inventory, and spare parts.
• Coordinate subs and jobsite hiring as needed.
• Produce As-Built drawings and participate in post-construction review.
• Ensure project completion within time and budget.
• Identify and communicate scope changes to Project Manager.
• Maintain a clean and orderly jobsite.
