Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. in Sanford, FL, is seeking a Project Superintendent I – Water/Wastewater to lead field operations on our projects. The role requires directing field teams, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring safe, efficient performance and adherence to project plans.

You will manage scheduling, quality control, and client communication while maintaining safety standards and regulatory compliance throughout the construction process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree or construction-related education preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of construction-related experience with track record on multimillion-dollar projects.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience managing field personnel and project execution.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and field staff.
• Current OSHA 30-Hour certification and First Aid & CPR certification required.
• Competent Person training in trenching/excavation, scaffolding, rigging, and related safety disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all field operations for assigned projects and provide leadership for onsite field administration and supervision.
• Maintain quality control, safety, and productivity; ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate permits, inspections, subcontractor activities, and field documentation.
• Lead project scheduling, manpower planning, and equipment tracking.
• Manage CC/QA, submittals, RFIs, and ensure accurate as-built drawings and field logs.
• Foster client relationships and participate in project reviews and closeout activities.
