Job summary

West Virginia is seeking a Water Plant Operator in training to perform daily water and wastewater plant tasks, monitor potability, and ensure discharge compliance. The role includes on-site coordination with contracted service providers, supervision of inmate staff, and travel for training opportunities.

On completion, certification as Class II Water Plant Operator and Class S Wastewater Plant operator is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in water or wastewater plant operations preferred.
• Ability to work independently under supervision.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform safe operation and maintenance of water and sewage treatment to meet state and federal regulations.
• Coordinate with contracted water plant service providers onsite three days per week.
• Supervise inmate operators in training and oversee work crews as needed.
