Job summary

Western Virginia Water Authority is seeking a Wastewater Operator II to perform skilled operation of the sewage treatment plant, collect samples, and prepare reports. The role involves monitoring instruments, adjusting equipment, and coordinating with the Wastewater Operations Supervisor.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED with environmental/chemistry coursework and 2+ years of related experience; a Class II DPOR license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and directs work of assigned employees.
• Reports progress and issues to supervisor.
• Regular plant tours and condition assessment through instruments.
• Regulates equipment based on condition readings.
• Generates maintenance work requests and coordinates with maintenance.
• Performs sample collection and records readings.
• Maintains DPOR continuing education requirements.
