Job summary

City of Laredo is seeking a Wastewater Operations staff member to operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment, sludge processing, and related systems in a safe, compliant manner. The role includes sampling, record-keeping, and routine testing at multiple points in the plant process.

Responsibilities also cover equipment operation, chemical handling, and adherence to state and federal permits. Candidates should be prepared for varied shifts and physical duties in a municipal utility

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of plant operations, safety requirements, and basic math.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and handle laboratory sampling responsibly.
• English grammar, spelling and writing skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activated sludge plant operations including dewatering.
• Collect samples and manage records for in-house and external labs.
• Monitor plant operation to ensure compliance with permits and regs.
• Perform routine tasks such as adding chemicals, adjusting equipment, and maintaining tanks.
