City of Las Cruces is seeking a dedicated Water Treatment Operator to operate and maintain wastewater and advanced water treatment systems on an assigned shift. Duties include monitoring equipment, collecting samples, preparing reports, and ensuring EPA/NPDES compliance.

Qualifications include an Associate's Degree in Water Technology and 4 years of relevant experience, plus NM Level IV certification and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Water Technology or related field.
• Experience in operation of advanced wastewater treatment facilities is preferred.
• A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied.

Responsabilités

• Operate, maintain, monitor, and control plant process equipment to meet EPA standards.
• Inspect processes to ensure disinfection and effluent requirements meet NPDES standards.
• Maintain records and reports in automated systems for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and present reports and analyses as required.
• Collect samples for analysis and adjust processes accordingly.
• Coordinate maintenance and safe operation of plants and equipment.
• Assist with compost project aeration and temperature readings.
• Provide guidance to staff and training as needed.
• Manage parts, fluids, and tools and communicate with vendors.
