Job summary

The City of Nacogdoches Public Works Department seeks a Plant Operator or Trainee in Wastewater Treatment. This hands-on role supports the Water Utilities team in ensuring safe, compliant plant operations and environmental protection.

Training is provided; prior experience is preferred but not required. Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, collecting samples, performing lab tests, and maintaining logs to meet permit limits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• A valid Texas Driver license.
• Ability to obtain a TCEQ Class D Wastewater License within 1 year of hire; higher license levels may affect pay.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• The ability to obtain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class D Wastewater License within one (1) year of hire date. (Pay is dependent upon possession of Class A, B, C or D Wastewater License with certificate/license pay up to $200.00 per month, for additional TCEQ licenses).

Knowledge and Skills Preferred

• Working knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations, safety procedures and permitting requirements.
