Job summary

City of Harlingen Waterworks System is seeking a skilled tradesperson to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of specialized equipment at water and wastewater plants and lift stations. The role requires journeyman-level skills across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and related trades.

Responsibilities include installing equipment, conducting major plant installations, and performing general building maintenance.

Qualifications

• Journeyman skills preferred in construction, plumbing, electrical, etc.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery used in maintenance and construction.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and interpret plans.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and semi-skilled construction, maintenance and repair of structures, equipment, and related apparatus at water and wastewater plants and lift stations.
• Apply journeyman level skills across trades (mechanical, electrical, carpentry, masonry, plumbing).
• Install or replace equipment and participate in major plant installations and overhauls.
• Conduct carpentry, painting, masonry, and general building maintenance tasks as required.
• Install water and wastewater lines and perform plumbing tasks.
• Operate motorized equipment used in construction, maintenance, and repairs.
• Perform cleanup after repairs and follow supervisor directions.
• Work with limited supervision and maintain safe procedures.
