Job summary

City of Harlingen Waterworks System is seeking a Water Maintenance Technician to perform unskilled to semi-skilled work in installing, maintaining and repairing hydrants, water lines, and valves. You will assist with mapping water lines and locating utilities, under supervision.

The role requires basic computer skills, willingness to work with heavy equipment, and the ability to read maps and blueprints. A Texas driver's license is needed; CDL-B preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Some basic computer skills are required.
• Some customer service experience is preferred.
• Experience using basic hand tools and some large equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance, installation and repair of hydrants and water lines.
• Assist in mapping water line valves and tagging hydrants.
• Spot water and sewer lines using required methods.
• Operate heavy equipment and drive company vehicles.
• Read prints and maps, and maintain records.
• Work under supervision and follow safety procedures.
