Job summary

City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania is hiring a Plant Maintenance Mechanic to perform skilled maintenance and repair on water and wastewater equipment at a plant or pumping station. The role requires safe work practices, reading blueprints, and the ability to disassemble and reassemble pumps and motors.

The candidate should have at least three years' experience with pumps, valves, pipes and related equipment, and must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or completion of a GED is required.
• At least three (3) years of experience in maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, valves, pipes and related water and wastewater equipment is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled maintenance and repair on plant and pumping station equipment.
• Follows safe practices in the performance of duties.
• Repairs plant breakdowns, inspects operating conditions, and completes work orders from supervisor.
• Disassembles, repairs and reassembles pumps, valves, motors and related equipment.
• Inspects and repairs gear assemblies, bearings, and shafts on pumps and other machinery.
• Inspects and repairs furnaces, cleans water systems and related tanks and vessels.
• Uses hand and power tools, operates light vehicles and power equipment, and cuts steel or pipes as needed.
• Reads blueprints and operation manuals to repair plant equipment.
