Job summary

Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa's Public Works - Water division is seeking a dedicated on-site Water/Utilities staff member to support daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with probationary periods and on-call availability as required.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, recordkeeping of usage and chemical concentrations, and assisting with emergencies.

Qualifications

• Valid Class D Driver’s License required.
• GED or High School diploma required.
• Minnesota State certified Class D Water Operator License required.
• Minnesota State certified SD Collections certification/licensure required; if not certified at hire must obtain within 18 months.
• 1–3 years of experience operating water treatment plants preferred.
• Knowledge of SCADA, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office 365.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance of water well pumps, chemical pumps, compressors, generators, valves, hydrants, etc.
• Seasonal flushing of main water line and cleaning sewer mains.
• Maintain records of gallons used, chemical concentrations, and filter backwashing.
• Upkeep of buildings, grounds, and water/wastewater facilities; perform grass cutting and snow removal.
• Assist with public relations and education to customers as needed.
• Assist in determining need for outside technical assistance for electrical failures, submersible pumps, and main line repairs.
• Monitor and operate municipal wastewater systems including lift stations and sanitary collection systems.
• Assist GSOC utility locates as needed within Reservation boundaries.
• Ensure confidentiality of financial records and employee records.
• Demonstrate professionalism and maintain on-call availability as required.
