Superior Water, Light and Power, Inc. is seeking a Water Plant Operator to operate and maintain the drinking water plant and related facilities in Superior, WI. The role requires working rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and nights, with possible on-call duties.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Certification options include WDNR grades; a six‑month window applies for obtaining the required certificates. SWL&P sponsors one TS exam within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No experience required; 1+ year in water treatment or distribution equipment preferred.
• Must meet one of the WDNR certification options and obtain the WDNR Grade T-S within six months of start date, or obtain WDNR Grade T-G and also the T-S within six months.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the drinking water plant and auxiliary facilities.
• Work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and nights; may be on-call or standby.
• Make operational decisions based on device readings and alarms.
• Direct actions during emergencies and serve as a contact for customers after hours.
