Job summary

City of Shreveport seeks an entry level Water/Wastewater Operator to join a multi-skilled team under the supervision of the Senior Operator. You will perform process control, quality tests, maintenance, equipment operation, and safety procedures.

The role involves on-site work outdoors, using testing equipment, supporting plant operations, and training on basic electrical safety; on-call shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid State Vehicle Operator's License.
• Two or more years in industrial/environmental operations and/or maintenance.
• Amiss Plant Assignment - Hold or be able to obtain Class 2 Water Production, Water Treatment and Water Distribution Certificates issued by the State of Louisiana within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs quality control tests on water or wastewater and uses precision measuring equipment.
• Operates and monitors treatment process units and related equipment.
• Includes preventive and reactive maintenance on plant equipment and facilities.
• Trains new team members on safe work practices and electrical safety.
• Maintains housekeeping standards and communicates with team members.
