Job summary

American Ordnance, a Day & Zimmermann Company, seeks a Water Sewage Operator to keep critical water systems safe, reliable, and compliant. You’ll monitor water quality, operate treatment equipment, and support wastewater recycling to protect people and the environment.

This role requires hands-on mechanical skills, physical capability to lift 50 lbs, and a commitment to safety. Salary range is $32.09–$35.65 per hour, final offers based on experience and location.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of water/wastewater processes and safety implications.
• Understanding environmental and health impacts of potable and wastewater.
• Mechanical knowledge of pumping and electronics.
• Ability to lift objects over 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily checks on potable water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and adjust as needed.
• Follow water sampling plans created by AO and IDNR.
• Process wastewater for recycling in compliance with standards.
• Maintain AO and Government equipment for cleanliness and operation.
• Adhere to AO and Government safety policies.

Education

H.S. Diploma or GED

Two years related experience

IDNR Water/Wastewater Grade 1-2 Certifications
