Job summary

Villari Food Group seeks a Wastewater Operator in North Carolina to operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance and safe discharge or reuse. The role requires familiarity with pumps, meters, SCADA, and chemical feed systems, plus reporting and data entry.

You will collect samples, adjust processes, perform basic maintenance, respond to alarms, and collaborate with engineers and supervisors to sustain continuous plant operations.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in environmental science, water/wastewater technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in wastewater or water treatment preferred; entry-level positions may provide on-the-job training.
  • Licensing: State wastewater operator certification.
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and equipment; ability to read meters, gauges, and flow charts; safety and environmental compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes, including pumps, motors, aerators, filters, and chemical feed systems.
  • Collect and analyze samples of wastewater and sludge to monitor treatment efficiency and regulatory standards.
  • Adjust treatment processes based on test results and operational data to maintain optimal performance.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment, perform basic repairs, and report malfunctions or needed maintenance.
  • Record operational data, including flow rates, chemical usage, and meter readings, in daily logs or digital systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and safety standards (e.g., EPA, OSHA).
  • Respond to alarms or emergencies, troubleshoot system issues, and take corrective actions.
  • Maintain plant cleanliness and safety, including chemical storage areas and mechanical rooms.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance programs and improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with other operators, engineers, and supervisors to ensure efficient plant operations.

    • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or adverse weather conditions.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, sometimes in noisy, wet, or odor-prone conditions.
  • Rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty may be required to maintain continuous operations.
