Job summary

The City of Baltimore is seeking an Operations Technician Apprentice to receive classroom and on-the-job training in operating and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment at a water or wastewater plant.

Incumbents work under supervision on rotating shifts, with evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as required. Applicants must meet basic education and licensing requirements and may need a background check.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or GED completed.
• Must hold a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license.
• Temp State of Maryland Certificate required on first day.

Responsibilities

• Receive classroom and on-the-job training for operation, maintenance and minor repair of plant equipment.
• Work under close supervision on a rotating shift, including evenings and weekends.
• Read meters and gauges, recording readings as part of daily operations.
