Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to join our Water/Wastewater Division in the Brevard & Indian River County, FL area.

The role supports field tasks assigned by the Project Superintendent and Craft Foreman, including layout, RFIs, shop drawings, and project logs. The ideal candidate will have a civil/related engineering degree and 1–2 years of field experience, plus strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Surveying and layout skills are required.
• Strong technical writing ability is needed.
• 1–2 years of field experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Foreman with structure layout.
• Process field purchase orders.
• Provide engineering support for construction planning.
• Maintain and update project logs and schedules.
• Identify need for RFIs.
• Prepare, review and process shop drawings.
• Maintain as-built drawings.
• Collect and assemble O&M material.
• Perform subcontract scope analysis.
• Assist with purchasing and expediting.
• Document distribution.
• Record meeting minutes and distribute.
