Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Construction Engineering Inspector to support engineers on Water/Wastewater and Utility projects in Tampa, FL. The role focuses on field inspections, contract support, and documentation to ensure compliance with plans and codes.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of field experience, knowledge of municipal specs (FDOT) and strong communication skills. Travel within Florida is required as projects demand on-site presence and collaboration with clients

Qualifications

• Must have basic computer skills and ability to use MS Office tools.
• Ability to read plans and specifications and apply to field inspections.
• Travel within the state of Florida is required.
• Experience with field inspections on water/wastewater, utilities, and roadway projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of water/wastewater, stormwater, utilities and related facilities construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and codes.
• Inspect roadway infrastructure including earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage and flatwork per contract documents.
• Provide field engineering, construction management and contract support on site and in office.
• Document inspection activities with daily reports and maintain organized field files.
• Coordinate material testing to ensure compliance with project specs.
• Assist in close-out duties including punch lists and final inspection reports.
