Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) seeks a Construction Engineering Senior Inspector to support water/wastewater and utility construction projects in Tampa, FL. The role involves field inspections, contract support, and collaboration with engineers on ongoing projects.

The successful candidate will read plans, oversee field staff, and ensure compliance with specs. Travel within Florida is required; immigration sponsorship is limited to TN visa eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Experience or certifications in construction inspection are a plus.
• Familiarity with field data collection and reporting.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect water/wastewater, stormwater, pump stations, utilities and related facilities construction projects for compliance with plans and codes.
• Inspect roadway infrastructure including earthwork, asphalt, concrete, and drainage for contract conformance.
• Provide field engineering, construction management and contract support on site and in office.
• Ensure workmanship and materials meet project specifications and industry standards.
• Document inspection activities with daily reports and organized field files.
• Coordinate material testing to verify materials meet specs.
• Conduct field measurements for pay item documentation and contract administration.
• Participate in closeout including deficiency lists and final inspection reports.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, sub-contractors and project teams.
