Job summary

City of Ann Arbor is seeking a Water Utility Tech I to operate, maintain, inspect and repair water and wastewater treatment facilities and related equipment.

The role includes rotating day and night shifts with some weekend work. A High School Diploma or GED and a valid driver's license are required. This position is union-represented (AFSCME) with a competitive wage and comprehensive benefits.

Job description

Starting Hourly Rate: $24.07

After hire, pay increases are dependent on length of service, advancement in the position, and other contractual factors.

Schedule Overview: This role offers a rotating schedule that provides experience in both Maintenance and Operations.

Maintenance Rotation: 5 weeks on a daytime schedule, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm.

Operations Rotation: Rotating shifts

• 1 week: 7am - 3pm
• 1 week: 3pm-11pm
• 1 week: 11pm-7am
• Some weekend work is required. When scheduled, weekend shifts are 12 hours on Saturday and Sunday, with two 8-hour shifts during the week.

Role Summary

To operate, maintain, inspect, install and repair water treatment and waste water treatment facilities and associated collection and distribution equipment, systems and components.
