Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Water Utility Engineer I to design municipal water, wastewater and related infrastructure from our Chicago OHare Crystal Lake Naperville or Mokena IL offices. You will contribute to planning, design and project delivery across multiple sites.

The role offers growth through technical design, project management, team leadership or business development, with a focus on safety, reliability and sustainable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• Ability to work in a team environment for engineering design and contractors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and design of municipal water distribution and sanitary sewer systems improvements including pipelines, pumping stations, valves, meters, manholes and related infrastructure.
• Prepare engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates and technical reports for utility infrastructure projects.
• Design underground infrastructure improvements using Trenchless Technologies such as HDD, jack and bore or lining.
• Support CIP development and project evaluation, prioritization, budgeting and infrastructure replacement planning.
• Perform hydraulic analyses and modelling of water distribution systems to support improvements and master planning.
• Conduct field investigations including SSES, fire flow testing, condition assessments and construction observations.
• Prepare permit applications and coordinate with local, state and federal agencies to ensure project compliance.
• Assist with Rate Studies, Funding Applications, GIS mapping and large multidisciplinary projects.
