Jefferson Parish is seeking an entry-level Water Purification Support position to assist operators and pump mechanics at the East Jefferson Water Treatment Plant. The role involves hands-on tasks across the plant, from pumping equipment service to chemical handling, with opportunities to learn toward becoming a Water Purification Operator.

The job requires driving a Parish vehicle and may involve travel to Grand Isle and other remote facilities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Qualifying options: current Jefferson Parish employment with permanent civil service status in related classification; OR one year of paid manual work experience.

Responsabilités

• Assist the Water Purification Operator and Pump Equipment Mechanic in daily plant duties.
• Pass tools, gather parts and materials, and assist in repairing pumps and precipitators; replace packing and chlorine tanks as needed.
• Set up ladders to access tanks and filters and assist in washing filters; monitor water quality and chemical dosages.
• Sample and monitor distribution system levels and pressure; assist in maintaining day tanks and overall plant operations.
• Travel to Grand Isle and other remote facilities to provide service as required.
