Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 1 year of experience as Water Plant Operator Trainee.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
• Water Treatment Operator Class I Certification and Distribution Class I Certification required or state temporary certificates.
• General knowledge of hazards and applicable safety rules and regulations in equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control pumps, valves, and motors to regulate raw water flow.
• Add and regulate chemicals to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water.
• Start agitators and allow impurities to settle.
• Maintain logs and records of chemical residuals, turbidity, and pressure.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and components.
• Test water samples for acidity and impurities.
