Water Treatment Plant Operator or Operator-in-Training

Loudoun Water is a public water and sewer utility that has an immediate opening for a Water Treatment Plant Operator or Operator-In-Training at their Water Treatment Facility located in Leesburg, VA.

The selected operator will assist in ensuring the facility is operational and meets permit requirements by performing routine operational tasks, including skilled and technical work on water treatment, plant equipment, and facilities under the direct supervision of a Class I licensed Shift Supervisor. Responsibilities include sampling and laboratory analyses, data analysis, monitoring and controlling treatment operations, and data entry. The Operator will utilize current industry technologies such as laboratory instrumentation, SCADA process control, and data management software. The facility employs advanced treatment technology and adheres to stringent standards and state/federal regulations. Effective communication with coworkers and supervisors is essential.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED with strong math skills and the ability to use logic to solve problems. Candidates must be eligible and able to obtain a VA Waterworks Operator Class 3 license within 3 years of hiring. Candidates with current VA Waterworks licenses of all classes are strongly encouraged to apply. The title of the selected candidate will depend on experience and current license status. A valid driver's license is required.

The Water Treatment Facility operates 24/7/365 on a 12-hour shift schedule. Operators are essential personnel and are required to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays; a sample schedule will be provided. Candidates should be prepared to cover shifts periodically during coworkers' leave. Most work is indoors, but occasional outside work in all weather conditions is required.
