Description:

Reporting to the Batching Supervisor, the Chemical Plant Operator is responsible for mixing and blending materials, operating process equipment, maintaining production records, and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures. The role requires compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mixing and blending of materials, paint matching, and operation of process equipment.
2. Monitoring plant equipment performance and process conditions using instruments, gauges, and meters.
3. Unloading rail cars and tank wagons.
4. Operating forklifts to stage materials.
5. Ensuring products are manufactured correctly according to standard orders.
6. Completing production and quality control reports accurately and timely.
7. Maintaining thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
8. Performing quality control analysis during manufacturing, including sampling raw materials and process samples for lab testing.
9. Following all safety procedures, acting safely, and understanding chemical hazards, safety, and health issues (TDSs, PPE, etc.).
10. Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
11. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience in a chemical plant environment preferred; paint/matching experience is a plus.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree or higher is a plus.
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime and night shifts as required.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to operate basic hand tools.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform strenuous, repetitive physical tasks such as climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and moving heavy drums (up to 440+ lbs).
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, indoors and outdoors.
