Job summary

Baltimore City is seeking a Water Treatment Assistant Manager to plan, coordinate and direct either the operation or maintenance of the City’s water treatment plants or remote facilities. The role directs operation, electrical, mechanical and grounds maintenance, instrumentation technicians and heavy equipment work units.

Incumbents report to a technical supervisor and work a conventional schedule with callbacks in emergencies; required to obtain Maryland certifications and maintain them.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Four years of experience coordinating a phase of water treatment operation, including two years of supervisory responsibilities.
• Equivalency notes: One year of additional experience may substitute for each year of college requirement; non-supervisory experience may not substitute for supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct activities of operation, electrical, mechanical and grounds maintenance teams.
• Plan, coordinate and direct either the operation or maintenance of the City’s water treatment plants or remote facilities.
• Oversee safety, compliance with environmental regulations, and assign responsibilities to staff.
