Job summary

Aqua America, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Operator for the Shenango Valley Division Water Treatment Plant. The role involves operation, maintenance, monitoring, and data recording of plant equipment and SCADA systems.

Responsibilities include sampling, lab work, and reporting to DEP/PUC. Strong reading of diagrams, math skills, and compliance with safety and union rules are essential. Requires a technical degree or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Pennsylvania DEP Class A Water Operators Certification required within 3 years.
• Associate’s degree or trade school diploma in technical field with 2 years of workplace experience; or 4 years of relevant experience if no degree.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license at time of hire.
• Must meet union agreement requirements and pass tests including Customer Service Skills Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, monitor, and control water treatment plant equipment and processes.
• Read, interpret, and record instrument data; maintain records in electronic/hard copy formats.
• Perform sampling and laboratory testing; compile and file reports for DEP/PUC and other authorities.
• Communicate with division staff and after-hours dispatch; assist with emergency maintenance and housekeeping.
• Read wiring diagrams/schematics and troubleshoot using electronic theory; follow safety policies.
