Job summary

City of Columbus – Division of Water is seeking an Operator II for the Dublin Road Water Plant. This full-time position supervises, operates, and staffs an assigned shift, manages SCADA control of flow and chemical processing, and responds to emergencies.

The role requires OEPA certifications and will coordinate with staff across the plant in Columbus, Ohio. Responsibilities include laboratory analysis, chemical dosages adjustments, equipment maintenance, and safety procedures development.

Qualifications

• EPA Class II or higher Water Supply Operator certificate (water treatment)
• Valid driver’s license
• EPA Full Laboratory Certificate with full lab approval for the facility

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor SCADA system to control and optimize water processing
• Collect and analyze water samples, adjust treatment processes accordingly
• Maintain laboratory equipment, standards, and calibration for OEPA certification
• Track chemical inventories, handling, storage and safety procedures
• Record shift operations, readings, and data logs for compliance
• Respond to plant emergencies such as spills, outages, and weather events
• Supervise plant staff on assigned shift and coordinate with other facilities
