Job summary

American Water, based in Short Hills, NJ, is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead front-line staff in our water operations. This role focuses on implementing operational processes, safety, and regulatory compliance to keep life flowing for customers.

You will schedule trainings, coordinate facility projects, and oversee preventative maintenance, security, and chemical management while ensuring accurate reporting and adherence to union agreements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
• 5 years of relevant experience in field.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Previous experience managing a Union workforce is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of front-line staff engaged in production operations.
• Schedule training and development activities to ensure operator certifications from regulating agencies.
• Participate in the resolution of union and/or non-union labor issues.
• Coordinate the construction of new and/or upgraded production facilities in accordance with approved CAPEX budget.
• Implement a preventative maintenance program for capital assets that provides OPEX savings and defers CAPEX spending.
• Day-to-day implementation of security efforts at all production facilities.
• Supervise daily activities to ensure that adequate quantities of treated water meeting all regulatory standards are provided to customers at all times.
• Supervise operational and business processes to ensure that American Water policies are followed, best practices are implemented, and internal/external reporting requirements are satisfied.
• Responsible for compliance with regularity programs including TCPA, DPCC, etc.
• Treatment Chemical management, including monitoring chemical storage and ordering deliveries.
