Job summary

The Tampa Water Department is seeking a highly skilled Team Leader to supervise front-line operators in a state-licensed drinking water production facility. This senior role oversees daily operations, assigns shifts, ensures safe handling of chemicals, and maintains compliance with SDWA and other regulations.

You will train staff, prepare regulatory reports, coordinate with maintenance, and operate SCADA systems to monitor treatment processes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school with relevant science coursework.
• Three years of responsible experience in water treatment operations, with lead experience preferred.
• Florida Class A Drinking Water Operators License and OJT level III certification.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in indoor/outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations and assign shifts for water treatment operators.
• Maintain water quality specifications and SDWA compliance.
• Prepare daily operation reports for regulators and management.
• Train subordinates and enforce safety procedures.
• Coordinate with maintenance on shift and respond to alarms or issues.
