Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking a Water Treatment Maintenance Specialist to join the Water Treatment Division. You will repair and maintain treatment plant equipment, assist with chemical deliveries, and learn plant operations in a safety-conscious environment.

The role requires physical work around hazardous chemicals and the ability to pass a respiratory medical assessment. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, 3 years of related experience, and a valid driver’s license with a

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years’ related work experience required.
• State-issued driver’s license with a good driving history; Colorado Water Operator C certification.

Responsibilities

• Leads work crews in the repair and maintenance of water, wastewater, reuse equipment, water storage tanks, and treatment facilities.
• Assists with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of water plant equipment, structures, and buildings.
• Assists in monitoring plant operations including laboratory tests on raw and treated water and chemical changes.
• Experience with chemical feeders, tanks, pumps, motors, piping systems, and valves.
• Mixes and loads chemicals.
• Maintains plant security.
• Performs janitorial, building, and grounds maintenance.
• Uses tools such as hand tools, shovel, jack hammer and power tools.
• Required to participate in confined space entries at whatever capacities assigned.
• Assists with snow removal activities and snow standby call duties.
• Basic knowledge of the city computer systems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
