Job summary

GFT is seeking a Water Treatment Process Engineer to join our Water team in a hybrid role with regular office attendance. You will lead and support design of potable water treatment facilities, assess existing processes, and drive improvements from planning through commissioning.

We value experience in water treatment chemistry, regulatory coordination, and project execution across multiple delivery phases. Occasional travel to sites is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering (MS is preferred).
• Professional Engineer Licensed required (PE) or the ability to obtain in 6-12 months.
• 4+ years of experience in water treatment, especially planning and/or process evaluation for potable water facilities.
• Knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Strong understanding of water treatment chemistry and processes such as oxidation, coagulation, clarification, filtration, disinfection, adsorption, and pH adjustment.
• Experience in project planning and execution across phases: plan, design, procure, construct, commissioning.
• Occasional travel for meetings, field work, and site inspections.

Responsibilities

• System Design: Lead and support evaluation of potable water treatment, including intakes, coagulation, filtration, disinfection, PFAS treatment, and residuals handling.
• Process Optimization: Analyze water quality, facility data, and operating data to improve performance and provide recommendations.
• Studies and Evaluation: Plan and execute bench, pilot, and full-scale studies; develop process recommendations and reports.
