Job summary

The Madison County Commission is seeking a Maintenance Worker for the Water Department to perform semi-skilled to skilled labor in construction and maintenance of water mains, service lines, meters, and related appurtenances.

You will operate light machinery, drive trucks for hauling, respond to after-hours outages, and work under supervision with safety as a priority while maintaining tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CDL Class B license is required or must be obtained within six months of employment.
• Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Lays pipe, concrete, rocks, and related appurtenances for water mains and service lines.
• Maintains a safe working environment and performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Operates light machinery and mid-size vehicles.
• Responds to after-hours calls for water outages or repairs as required.
• Drives trucks for light hauling and transports materials as needed.
• Repairs asphalt, concrete, landscaping, and other hardscape as needed for water system work.
