Job summary

The City of Murfreesboro, TN is seeking a dedicated Water/Wastewater Maintenance Worker to perform heavy manual labor in repair, construction, maintenance and inspection of water, re-purified water, and wastewater systems. You will operate tools, read codes, and ensure safe, efficient operations while complying with safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; municipal maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow codes and safety procedures.
• Valid driver’s license required; CPR/First Aid within 12 months is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively in spoken and written English for safe operations.
• Remove old services and replace per codes; gather materials daily.
• Assist with excavation, dig around utilities, and prevent damage.
• Repair water leaks on mains, hydrants, and service lines; install and set manholes.
• Maintain tools and equipment; inventory parts; standby duties including nights/weekends.
