Job summary

City of Wauwatosa is seeking a Water Technician I/II to operate and maintain the water distribution system. The role involves outdoor, sometimes heavy manual labor, and customer service duties. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent, a Wisconsin driver’s license, and obtain a Class B CDL within one year.

Competitive benefits accompany the position. Work hours are Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime during winter emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in heavy manual or semi-skilled tasks and operation of heavy or medium duty trucks preferred.
• A valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
• A Class B CDL must be obtained within one year of employment. That time frame may be extended depending on internal training resources.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair water distribution system as part of a crew or independently.
• Operate municipal vehicles and heavy construction equipment.
• Record and maintain water infrastructure records and as-built drawings.
• Install, read, replace and repair water meters in buildings of various sizes.
• Respond to emergency situations and work nights, weekends, holidays as needed.
