Job summary

The City of Murphy Public Works Department seeks a Maintenance Worker II to support the water, wastewater, roadway, and stormwater systems. You will operate a range of equipment and perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs in a fast-paced municipal setting.

This full-time role follows a Monday–Friday 7am–4pm schedule with opportunities for growth within Pay Grade #27. Candidates must hold water licenses and a valid CDL, with on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Class D Water Distribution License required.
• Class C Water Distribution License required or must obtain within 18 months of hire.
• Class I Wastewater Collection License required or must obtain within 18 months of date of hire.
• Valid Texas Class B CDL with tankers endorsement or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Public Services Department equipment, vehicles, and tools; keep maintenance inspection records.
• Set up and maintain traffic control plans per TxMUTCD.
• Repair water/wastewater components and meters; perform inspections and data documentation daily.
• Use chemicals for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Respond to emergencies as needed and assist other departments during incidents.
