Job summary

St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission in Maryland is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water treatment and distribution equipment, ensuring public safety and regulatory compliance.

The role reports to the Water Superintendent. You will document performance, operate SCADA systems, conduct water sampling, wear appropriate PPE, and assist with standby duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two or more years of related maintenance experience.
• Certifications: Class 2 Water Treatment and MDE Water Sampler Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment for water treatment and distribution.
• Maintains and updates operations logs and reports.
• Disassembles and rebuilds motors, valves, pumps, and gearboxes for repairs.
• Conducts electrical work in conjunction with mechanical maintenance and checks.
• Monitors SCADA equipment and performs station checks and water sampling as needed.
• Operates and maintains vehicles and related equipment.
• Ensures safety protocols and PPE are used for confined space entry and other hazards.
