Job summary

St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission seeks a skilled technician to maintain and repair water treatment and distribution equipment. You will operate SCADA systems, keep logs, and ensure regulatory safety compliance for the county’s water system.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with related experience and appropriate certifications. On-site work includes handling heavy equipment and adhering to safety procedures as a primary responsibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of related experience.
• Must hold Class 2 Water Treatment and MDE Water Sampler Certification.
• Valid Maryland driver’s license, Class C.
• Temporary Traffic Control Manager Certification desired.
• Must maintain full certification status as required by the Certification Board.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water treatment and distribution equipment.
• Operate and document SCADA systems for water operations.
• Maintain logs and reports for equipment history and inventory controls.
• Disassemble and rebuild motors, pumps, valves, and gearboxes; perform welding as needed.
• Assist with water sampling and station checks as an operator when required.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and certification requirements.
