Job summary

St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform carpentry, roofing, framing, electrical and plumbing tasks at water and wastewater facilities.

This hands-on role reports to the Waste Water Collections Superintendent and requires practical, building- and grounds-maintenance skills. Qualifications include a HS Diploma or GED with 1–2 years of related experience and a valid Maryland driver’s license, Class C.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED with 1–2 years of related experience.
• Or equivalent technical training, education and/or experience.
• Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license, Class C.

Responsibilities

• Performs light construction, repairs and maintenance to buildings, grounds, and structures used to provide water and wastewater service.
• Performs grounds maintenance duties (ditches, mowing, edging, lawn restoration).
• Develops material lists, obtains pricing and creates purchase requests to complete projects.
• Monitors work of various supply or service contractors.
• Cleans, prepares and applies protective coatings to surfaces including storage tanks.
• Utilizes computer skills to generate and close work orders and track job status.
