Job summary

City of Monroe (NC) seeks a skilled heavy equipment operator to support water and wastewater infrastructure. You will operate diverse machinery, perform maintenance, and respond to emergencies in a municipal setting.

Work includes installations and repairs of mains and appurtenances, use of CMMS for work orders, and maintaining safety in various conditions. Valid NC driver’s license and progression toward required certifications are expected.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform manual and semiskilled labor for extended periods.
• Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a NC commercial driver's license within six months.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of medium to heavy equipment for water and wastewater systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Respond to emergency and customer service calls.
• Use CMMS to write, perform, and close work orders.
• Assist with installation and repair of water/wastewater mains and appurtenances.
