Job summary

City of Monroe (NC) seeks an Equipment Operator to perform intermediate work operating a variety of medium to heavy automotive and construction equipment under moderate supervision. Responsibilities include operating backhoes, tractors, loaders, mowers, and related equipment; performing general maintenance; assisting with events and snow removal; and reporting unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a North Carolina commercial driver’s license within six months of employment.
• May require possession of or ability to obtain a pesticide applicator license depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium to heavy equipment such as lawnmower, backhoe, tractors, loaders, excavator, and dump trucks.
• Perform general maintenance on assigned equipment and report unsafe conditions.
• Assist with special events, snow removal, and maintenance of medians and landscapes.
• Work under moderate supervision and coordinate with supervisor and mechanics as needed.
