Job summary

The Town of Barre is seeking an Assistant Water Operator to help oversee daily operations of the water distribution system and the collection/pumping of domestic and commercial wastes. You will assist in maintaining pumps, motors, valves and related equipment, and help ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and a valid driver's license; Vermont water operator certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; a Class B CDL with tank endorsement by end of year is desirable.
• Public Water System Operator Certification is desired but not required.
• Must begin working toward obtaining Class 4 and D Water Operator license within the first year; obtain Class B CDL with tank endorsement by end of year.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily operation of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, electrical systems, and piping.
• Monitor records of daily operations, maintenance activities, and water quality data.
• Participate in emergency response and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.
