Job summary

City of Cottonwood seeks a Water Treatment Operator to monitor, operate and maintain water production, treatment and pumping facilities under the supervision of the Water Treatment Foreman. You will ensure compliance with ADEQ and federal water quality standards to protect public health and safety.

Requirements include a valid Arizona driver's license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and (desirable) 1 year of potable water treatment experience.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License by hire date.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of potable water treatment operations experience desirable.
• Must possess or obtain within six months of hire a Grade I Water Treatment Operator Certificate from ADEQ.

Job description

Under close supervision of the Water Treatment Foreman, monitors, operates and maintains water production, treatment, and pumping facilities. Ensures all phases of water operations meet or exceed Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and federal water quality requirements to protect public health and safety. Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License by hire date. Must have a High school diploma or equivalent. At least one (1) year of potable water treatment operations experience is desirable. Must possess or obtain within six months of hire a Grade I Water Treatment Operator Certificate from Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, theemployee is regularly required to stand; walk, sit; usehands to reach, grasp and feel; stoop; kneel; bend;and climb. The employee must regularly lift and/ormove up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/ormove up to 50 pounds. Work is performed outdoorsin all weather conditions.

Special Requirements:

May be required to work overtime, holidays and weekends and be on-call 24 hours per day on a rotational basis in accordance with departmental on call policy. Must be able to respond to call-outs within twenty (20) minutes. Required to complete a physical examination to ensure the ability to perform the essential job functions.
