Job summary

City of Maypearl seeks a Water Maintenance Worker to support Water/Sewer and Public Works, under the Water Maintenance Foreman. Primary duties include reading meters, repairing leaks, and assisting with sewer backups; outdoor work in variable weather, and potential on-call duties.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, Class D Water License (or ability to obtain within a year), and at least 1 year of water/sewer experience; able to lift up to 100 pounds and operate backhoe and

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.
Class D Water License or higher is required (or ability to obtain within one year).
Minimum of 1 year of experience in water and/or sewer preferred.
Previous experience with maintenance and/or repair work.

Responsibilities

Works on various components within the water and sewer systems.
Replace and read water meters, repair water leaks, streets, and sidewalks.
Assist with sewer line backups as needed.
Perform site clean-up as required and directed by the Water Maintenance Foreman.
Set up barricades at worksites and observe safe working procedures.
Lead and direct other water maintenance workers as needed.
Work mostly outdoors in extreme temperatures, including heat, cold, temperature swings, and inclement weather.
Subject to on-call 24 hours a day.
Assist with Streets, Public Works, and other department tasks as directed by Public Works Administration.
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
