Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Swim Lesson Instructor to provide leadership, instruction, and motivation in swimming lessons while maintaining a safe, positive environment aligned with YMCA policies. The role requires delivering effective guidance, tracking progress, and engaging with parents during orientation and feedback sessions.

Responsibilities include conducting lessons, performing daily equipment checks, and attending staff trainings.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years and eligible to work.
• Must obtain YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification per YMCA standards.
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or ability to obtain prior shift.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community.

Responsibilities

• Lead swimming lessons and ensure safe, engaging class environments.
• Maintain certifications and follow YMCA emergency procedures.
• Provide feedback to participants and support parent communication.
• Perform equipment checks and prepare gear for lessons.
• Record attendance and progress in accordance with YMCA policies.
• Participate in staff trainings and meetings; may conduct private lessons.
