Job summary

Robbinsdale Area Schools is seeking Water Safety Instructors or Water Safety Aides for the Community Education Aquatics program at Plymouth and Sandburg Middle Schools. This casual, part-time role offers evenings and weekend shifts up to 12 hours weekly.

Candidates must meet minimum qualifications, including age 14/16, strong customer service and communication skills, ability to work with diverse groups, regular attendance, CPR/First-Aid within two months, and preferred WSI certification.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 14 years old to be a WSA and 16 years old to be a WSI.
• Ability to work with people from various cultures.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and problem solving while dealing tactfully with the public.
• Able to attend work regularly and report on time.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Red Cross CPR and First-Aid Certificates within two months of hire.
• Current Water Safety Instructors Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach lessons according to lesson plans.
• Be responsible for testing for assigned levels.
• Direct and maintain control of class participants.
• Be responsible for accurately maintaining paperwork for each class.
• Communicate effectively with the general public and staff members.
• Demonstrate swimming strokes.
• Accurately evaluate class structure and participant's swim ability and stroke proficiency.
• Water Safety Aides assist Water Safety Instructors in all duties.
