Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol seeks a Water Resources / Stormwater Engineer for our Charleston office. The candidate will work on federal flood risk projects, municipal stormwater plans and resilience initiatives, collaborating with coastal engineers and related studios.

Travel to support delivery is expected across the Southeast, backed by our Raleigh team and national water resources practice. We require 8–15 years of water resources/stormwater experience, a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree, PE

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering is required.
  • 8 to 15 years of water resources/stormwater experience.
  • PE licensure with SC reciprocity within 6 months preferred.
  • CFM certification preferred; floodplain management knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong background in hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee numerical modelling to evaluate flood risk and system performance.
  • Support analyses on storm surge, rainfall-driven flooding and sea level rise.
  • Prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates for flood risk and coastal projects.
  • Develop hydrologic, hydraulic and hydrodynamic models (1D/2D, urban and coastal).
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports and presentations for clients and teams.
  • Coordinate with project team members and regulatory agencies; support multi-office delivery.
  • Travel as needed to support project delivery.
