Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Water Resources Engineer in Oakland, CA with a stormwater and coastal resilience focus. You will work on flood risk, stormwater, and resilience projects across scales, collaborating with coastal engineers and partners to advance regional strategies.

The role requires 5–10+ years of water resources experience, a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree, and California PE licensure or plan to obtain. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; PE licensure or plan to obtain.
• 5–10+ years of water resources / stormwater management experience.
• Experience with floodplain mapping, FEMA regulations, and stormwater design.
• Experience modeling flood risk, coastal resilience, and urban drainage.

Responsibilities

• Perform numerical modelling and engineering calculations to evaluate flood risk, system capacity, pump and outfall performance.
• Develop hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrodynamic models (1D/2D, urban drainage, coastal systems).
• Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and presentation materials for clients.
• Coordinate with project team, internal disciplines, and regulatory agencies.
